Mediators
New York has a vibrant network of mediators from diverse personal and professional backgrounds. NYSAMP mediators are neutral, independent, and dedicated to the agricultural community.
Mediators receive at least 30 hours of intensive instruction by a trainer certified by the New York court system. New mediators continue their training during an apprenticeship period, and maintain their qualifications with additional training each year. NYSAMP mediators are carefully selected for their advanced skills; they receive additional training and support.
Many mediators receive advanced training to qualify for family court referred cases, including custody and visitation, divorce, or parent / teen mediations. Professional training and development seminars such as domestic violence screening are provided for family mediators.
Most mediators are not lawyers. Although mediators receive general training in legal matters relevant to their specialties, they do not provide legal advice.
